The 2016 Advancing Justice Conference (AJC) is the first and only national conference in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community focusing on civil rights and social justice. Over 700 AAPIs from across the U.S. will come together to address issues facing our fastest growing populations. The theme will focus on civic engagement and building our electoral and social power in support of economic and racial justice. Conference attendees will participate in two days of panel discussions, caucus sessions, skills and capacity building, trainings, and networking receptions.

Ramla Sahid is the founder and executive director of the Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans (PANA) and is responsible for overseeing the organization’s growth as the leading voice for refugees in San Diego. She brings more than a decade of experience in the nonprofit arena and a strong track record of successfully advancing state policy and local campaign initiatives. Prior to PANA, she was a community organizer for Mid-City Community Advocacy Network, where she led the Access to Health Care, Affordable Care Act, and Peace Promotion’s restorative justice work for the California Endowment’s Building Healthy Communities Initiative in City Heights, San Diego.
