The 2016 Advancing Justice Conference (AJC) is the first and only national conference in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community focusing on civil rights and social justice. Over 700 AAPIs from across the U.S. will come together to address issues facing our fastest growing populations. The theme will focus on civic engagement and building our electoral and social power in support of economic and racial justice. Conference attendees will participate in two days of panel discussions, caucus sessions, skills and capacity building, trainings, and networking receptions.

Bao Nguyen is the Mayor of the City of Garden Grove, California. Prior to his election in 2014, he served, by appointment in 2011, then by election in 2012, as trustee of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education, including a term as Vice-President. In 2014, Nguyen was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Orange County Fair Board of Directors, California 32nd District Agricultural Association. Nguyen has also served as a Commissioner of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.
